The Essential E does what it says on the tin. It's the essential qualification for workers in all construction company with fewer than 6 employees.

Exclusive to Genesis this course is offered in three short one day stages and covers Health and Safety, Business Skills and Environment and Sustainability for Construction. Moves are afoot, led by Paul King Chief Executive of the Green Building Council, to make the qualification mandatory by law for all construction workers. Developed by Tim Simmons, Sustainable Construction Manager at Genesis, the course has already been run with Exmoor National Park, ConstructionSkills and the Federation of Master Builders. Genesis is currently the only company delivering this qualification.

Completion of the course gives certificates to individual employees and to the company itself to demonstrate the commitment to staff training. The course is at VRQ level 2, and focuses on awareness through information gathering rather than the usual practical skills. There are no exams and full attendance guarantees achievement of the qualification.
