A & C Joinery have been awarded Apprentice Employer of the Year for England - Highly Commended by the Construction Industry Training Board. They attended an awards ceremony at the O2 on Wednesday, 6th November. The awards ceremony was hosted by Ben Fogle. The persons in order from left to right are:- Ben Fogle (Awards Host), Linda Russell (Partner, A & C Joinery), Chris Russell (Partner, A & C Joinery) and William Burton (CITB, Interim Chief Executive).
Owners of A & C Joinery Chris and Linda Russell manufacture high quality bespoke joinery at their Workshop on the Rose Mills Industrial Estate, Ilminster, Somerset. They have been committed, for many years, to the training of young persons in our trade and have recognised the importance of passing on knowledge and skills for future generations. They take an active part in the training of apprentices and work closely with the local colleges that the apprentices attend. All of their existing employees have been apprentices that they have trained.
Chris Russell says 'We were delighted to have even been nominated, let alone to have won this award. It is a reflection of the efforts we have put in to ensure our Apprentices get the best training to start their careers in our trade. There are around 80,000 companies registered with the CITB and so for our small company to have won this award is a massive achievement and we feel extremely proud'.
