Company Background

Having gained a degree in Architecture at Plymouth University, our designer, Tom Eggar, went on to spend two years in various Architectural practices in and around London, before studying at the Rennie Mackintosh School of Architecture.

In order to engage with a more hands on approach to the construction industry, Tom begun an apprenticeship in green oak timber framing with Oakwrights. Following on from this solid foundation in oak work, he went on to explore the softwood market. After a year or so of erecting buildings for Pelham Structures, it wasn’t long before he found his way back to the “drawing board” and became a draftsman / project manager using state of the art Dietrichs 3d joinery software, linked to CNC machinery in the form of the Hundegger K2.

After five years of designing, building and project managing top end, bespoke buildings for the likes of Jamie Oliver and Frank Warren he moved down to Taunton and began freelance design work and project managing. Throughout these transitions, his brother Matt, was on site constructing and erecting the vast majority of these buildings and have now formally joined forces as Eggar Brothers.
