A simple yet effective construction industry aid has won an award for a Yeovil company.
Judges of the awards said the product of the year category was one of the toughest to decide because of the variety and number of products produced by national, international and home-based companies.
The Housebuilder Media awards are backed by the whole industry, including NHBC, the Home Builders Federation and the New Homes Marketing Board, and are seen as an important part of the drive to improve standards in the industry.

Cavity Trays Ltd has won the Best Product category at the annual awards ceremony at the Millennium Mayfair in London.
The Continuity Closer developed by Cavity Trays, assists builders in optimising the thermal efficiency of the premises they construct.
Product developers at Cavity Trays identified possible shortcomings when sheets of insulating material are installed in cavity walls. The cutting of the insulation is often poorly executed resulting in gaps where walls meet up with reveals for windows and doors.
The Continuity Closer, an L-shaped strip of insulating material, closes the gaps to ensure no break in insulation capacity.
While improving build quality and insulation features, it makes life easier for site operatives to ensure all new structures comply with the thermal efficiency clauses of building regulations.
