As the construction industry searches for solutions to the call for sustainable development a host of European standard and non standardised construction materials and systems, both new and previously discarded, are being introduced to an ever increasing number of projects. As a consequence, structural engineers are being asked to assess the suitability of methods such as rammed earth, straw bale and Zeigel block (lightweight fired clay) where British Standards do not yet exist.
This CPD will examine and discuss the challenges faced, by engineers, in trying to integrate 'sustainable' materials into mainstream projects. As part of this process, those attending will be able to hear, first hand, about the measures that were taken by the Genesis Project's engineer in order to ensure that the materials used would perform to the required standard.
The cost includes locally sourced lunch and certificate for all CPD Modules and may be accepted by your company or institution as five hours CPD.
