The Genesis Centre is the sustainable construction resource and learning centre for the South West

The Genesis centre is the most exciting development in the Further Education sector today. It demonstrates that traditional construction materials and methods can work in harmony with recycled waste and modern materials and techniques to create energy saving, waste reducing streamlined, contemporary buildings.

Educational links and opportunities are in development with schools and Colleges across the region. Continuing professional development courses for construction professionals and people involved in self build or interested in sustainability in general are run from the Centre.

In the year since the £2.5m Genesis centre opened at Somerset College in Taunton, they haven’t really let the grass grow.

Somerset College’s Genesis Centre receives national recognition Somerset College’s Genesis Centre picked up the Highly Commended Award in the Building Sustainability Awards 2006 for ‘Sustainable Building of the Year Worth less than £2m’ at the Awards ceremony at Park Lane, London last night (20 November).
